Mr. Oshilaja majored in International Business and Finance at New York University’s Stern School of Business, graduating with a B.Sc. degree in 1992.

He completed credit and executive management training programs at Bankers Trust Company, New York, becoming a Vice President in its International Merchant Banking Division, following assignments and responsibilities in the firm’s correspondent banking, trade finance, commodities and risk management divisions.

John has 25 years’ banking, trading and business consulting experience in emerging financial markets in Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Africa, 18 years of which were spent in middle and senior line management roles in proprietary trading, public and private sector debt markets advisory and business origination for international banks and trading firms, such as Bankers Trust, Cargill, Henry Ansbacher & Co., Credit Suisse First Boston and Standard Bank.

John’s experience covers public sector debt restructurings and market development initiatives in Brazil, Mexico, Kenya and Nigeria, global emerging markets debt and derivatives trading, and landmark African transactions which he either initiated, advised on or directly originated for investment and trading firms. He is a reputed Africa markets specialist to the international investment community and a practised consultant, to African government agencies and institutions, on financial market policy and capacity development issues respectively.

He is presently a Director at African Capital Market Partners LLP, based in the United Kingdom.
